Regional Government provided training to more than 440 energy professionals in the first half of 2020
The Regional Government promoted, in the first semester of this year, seven free online courses to train and certify Azorean professionals working in the area of energy, covering more than 440 participants in the implementation of a strategy towards the qualification of the Region's technical staff.
The training initiatives promoted by the Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism, through the Regional Directorate for Energy, began in March with an online training dedicated to the Local Energy Managers designated by various public bodies under the scope of the Programme for Energy Efficiency in the Azores Public Administration (ECO.AP Azores).
These professionals are a key part of the ECO.AP Azores programme, whose goal is to increase energy efficiency in all public regional administration buildings, embodying strategic option taken by the Regional Government. Accordingly, the action directed to this sector is relevant for the example, transparency and optimisation of public resources, being also a driving force for the adoption of good practices based on energy efficiency in the community.
In April, several training courses were held for professionals that focused on key themes for the promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, such as hot water systems, solar thermal energy, air conditioning, heat pumps and psychrometry.
These initiatives are of paramount importance in a field in constant evolution, such as energy, which presents innovative approaches and solutions. In this context, the Regional Government also provides the regional technical staff with the possibility of boosting their competitiveness in the regional market, while contributing to a highly efficient work process in the Region in the area of energy.
In this context, Azorean professionals are better able to advise citizens, directing them to more efficient technologies that are better suited to their needs. They also play a key role in the promotion of energy efficiency and use of systems based on renewable energy sources, thereby stimulating the transition to a low carbon economy in the archipelago.
