Regional Government to mark World Energy Day with energy efficiency awareness-raising action
The Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism, through the Regional Directorate for Energy, holds today an awareness-raising action towards increased energy efficiency in Santa Cruz da Graciosa, marking the World Energy Day.
This training and awareness-raising action takes place at the Municipal Library and bring together workers from several entities, namely the Town Council, Village Councils and Private Social Solidarity Institutions. The aim is to provide them with energy management principles applicable to their working facilities as a way of optimising their energy performance.
This five-hour session focuses on a number of pertinent topics regarding the rational use of energy, such as lighting, equipment, air conditioning, ventilation, water heating and energy production from renewable sources.
The support and incentives available for the optimisation of energy efficiency as well as the relevance of energy certification and electricity billing are other topics to be addressed at this session. It will culminate in the approach to the development of an energy efficiency plan that could be implemented by participants in their entities.
This is an initiative organised by the Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism, through the Regional Directorate for Energy. The initiatives carried out on several islands of the archipelago are primarily intended to stimulate energy-efficient behaviours in the Azores by promoting a low-carbon society in the Region.
So far, these training sessions have already taken place on the islands of Santa Maria, São Miguel, Terceira, Faial, Pico and Flores.
