European Artistic Roller Skating Championship is "excellent opportunity" to promote the Azores, says Regional Director for Tourism
The Regional Director for Tourism stated that the organisation of the European Artistic Roller Skating Championship on São Miguel is "another excellent opportunity to promote the projection of the Azores." It allows us to share the best that the archipelago has to offer "in a natural way," namely "a unique nature, deep-rooted traditions and a very special hospitality."
"This is how the Government of the Azores regards the organisation of international events such as this one: as unique opportunities to achieve the recognition that will increasingly strengthen the Azores - Certified by Nature brand," stressed Felipe Macedo. The government official spoke Tuesday at the opening ceremony of the European Artistic Roller Skating Championship.
The Regional Director stressed that it is "an honour" to host this European championship in the Azores, which, for 10 days, "will offer great moments of competition, socialisation and a different type of entertainment to all those who live here or visit" the archipelago.
In his speech, Filipe Macedo also highlighted the Portuguese Roller Skating Association and the São Miguel Roller Skating Association for the "ambition and courage to persuade the European Confederation of Roller Skating to organise an important international event such as this one in a peripheral Atlantic archipelago, which brings to the Azores hundreds of participants from 17 countries."
Filipe Macedo emphasised the "far-reaching impact of these major events across borders," providing an effective contribution "to the tourism flows necessary to ensure the sustainability of the regional tourism industry."
"Given the high levels of competitiveness that the Azores face, there must be a continuous commitment to achieve increased visibility by highlighting the features that make the Azores unique and, thus, with greater potential for attractiveness to potential future visitors," said the Regional Director.
