In the context of the celebrations of the World Tourism Day, the Government promotes several initiatives across the archipelago Sunday, September 27. These activities are intended to make tourists better acquainted with the regional reality and specificities, namely in terms of culture, cuisine, handicrafts and regional products.
All guests staying at regional tourist accommodation units will be given a sample of local products and the tourism office will offer visitors a tasting of regional products.
The World Tourism Organisation chose as the theme "A Billion Tourists, A Billion Opportunities" for this year's edition. The celebration of the World Tourism Day intends to reflect on the evolutionary potential of over a thousand million tourists who travel around the world per year. In addition to leading the world economy, the tourism industry has a vast potential to tackle some of the biggest challenges Humanity faces, such as socio-economic growth, inclusive development and environmental preservation.
