Regional Government already received more than 900 applications for "Clean & Safe Azores" seal
The Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism, through the Regional Directorate for Tourism, has already received 939 requests for membership to the "Clean & Safe Azores" seal. In this context, she highlighted the joint work carried out by the Government and entrepreneurs in the sector towards the safe resumption of tourism activity, safeguarding public health, both for those who receive tourists and those who intend to visit the Azores.
The applications received so far comprise tourist developments, local accommodation, camping sites, youth hostels, travel agencies, tourist animation companies, tour guides, restaurants, rent-a-car and events/congresses.
The awarding of the "Clean & Safe Azores" seal requires attendance in an online training course to be conducted according to the Handbook on COVID-19 Good Practices that was prepared in partnership with the Regional Secretariat for Health.
The first training courses are aimed at restaurant entrepreneurs and take place on June 4, 8 and 15. They are based on the module dedicated to this sector, which can be consulted at https://clean-safe.azores.gov.pt/resources/docs/Acores-Parte-II.pdf.
This initiative is intended to raise the awareness of tourism companies for hygiene and cleaning procedures and basic measures to prevent and control infection by COVID-19 as well as to provide information to participants, helping them to adopt procedures adapted to the reality and context of their organisations.
After the training, each entity will receive a kit and a seal, whose maintenance will require a strong commitment on the part of all companies with regard to the implementation and monitoring of the rules set out in the document.
