The Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism, through the Azores Tourism Observatory, informs that the applications for the "Creatour Azores" project are open until July 31.
"Creatour Azores" is a project with an integrated approach to research and application, which intends to develop research focused on creative tourism and diversify the regional tourism offer in the Azores. Moreover, it is also aimed at strengthening links with other Portuguese regions where this model is being implemented through the "Creatour" project.
The applications are open to all types of organisations, entities and professionals in the Azores wishing to develop and implement creative tourism projects ans well as to collaborate with researchers in the area.
The five proposals selected in the stipulated categories (art and nature, handicrafts and traditions, creative cuisine and families and children) for the development of pilot initiatives in the area of creative tourism until 2022 will be announced on August 15. They include the participation in specialised training sessions, workshops and conferences, focusing on proposals that can contribute to sustainable local development processes based on endogenous resources.
Given the unique location and the intrinsic characteristics of the Azores, there is a very high potential for developing attractive and original creative tourism products at international level. This will enable the project to gain insight on the specific market segments with higher interest in the creative tourism products that the Region can offer.
The project presents synergies with other regions of Mainland Portugal, where this model of Creative Tourism is being implemented.
The "Creatour Azores" is coordinated by the Azores Tourism Observatory and the University of the Azores in partnership with the Gaspar Frutuoso Foundation and the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra. It is financed by FEDER, through the Azores 2020 Operational Programme, and by regional funds allocated by Regional Directorate for Science and Technology.
Applications can be made through the online form: https://forms.gle/cUxNjZgz7BHvar6v8.
