Azores should be privileged venue for the practice of sports, says Marta Guerreiro
The Regional Secretary for Energy, Environment and Tourism stressed the importance of strengthening the position of the Azores as an active tourism destination by associating the Region to sports events.
Marta Guerreiro spoke at the presentation of the 11th International Football Tournament - Azores U11, highlighting this event as "another example that evidences our commitment to host high quality initiatives, being an important moment to enhance the projection of the Azores Destination."
"The Government of the Azores is committed to developing a policy that awards priority to initiatives that have an effective promotional return or contribute to the increase of tourism flows," said the government official.
In her speech, Marta Guerreiro pointed out that one of the priorities concerns the development of various products on each of the islands of the archipelago, noting that the Strategic and Marketing Plan of the Azores Tourism fulfils this goal, particularly in the context of sport.
"These diversified and theme routes allow us to complement the regional tourism offer and acknowledge our authenticity, bringing more visitors to the Azores, who will benefit from a series of series of activities to discover and experience," said the Regional Secretary.
The Secretary for Tourism also ensured that this kind of initiative promotes healthy competition, cultural exchange and the possibility of living unique experiences that only the Azores can offer, wishing that "each participant may know better our history, our environmental heritage and, above all, our people."
