Increasing electricity production from renewable and endogenous sources is a Regional Government's priority
The Regional Secretary for Energy, Environment and Tourism stated today that the increase of electricity production from renewable sources is a Regional Government's priority, corresponding to 40% in the first half of this year.
On occasion of the Government's visit to the island of São Miguel, Marta Guerreiro spoke on the sidelines of a visit to the company Fácil, which markets and installs energy production systems from renewable sources.
"This is a family-run company that has been renewing itself over time, given the challenges of today," the government official said, adding that "it has undertaken a remarkable effort in increasing energy production from renewable sources."
Marta Guerreiro highlighted the use of the photovoltaic panels to produce energy for self-consumption. As she noted, "since July, the legislation in force at national level has been promoting the self-consumption of energy generated from renewable sources, in line with European policies, collective self-consumption and renewable energy communities. It has also stipulated the rights and duties on the access to the activity."
According to the Regional Secretary, "families have the possibility of installing solar panels in their homes to produce their own electricity, being able to consume a portion and sell what was not consumed to the power grid."
“We are reinforcing the production of energy from renewable sources, thereby reducing the Region's energy dependence,” said Marta Guerreiro.
