Marta Guerreiro says "10 FEST Açores" is example of reinvention of regional gastronomic products
The Regional Secretary for Energy, Environment and Tourism stated in Ponta Delgada that the "10 FEST Açores" is one of the most recognised gastronomic festivals in the country and a relevant event in the annual calendar of regional events regarding the reinvention of regional gastronomic products.
"It will be 10 days with 10 chefs, who will meet with collaborators, teachers and graduates of the Tourism and Hotel School. The event will contribute to a joint thought about the Azorean cuisine and the potential of its updating," said Marta Guerreiro at the presentation of the event that runs from June 22 to July 1.
In her intervention, the Regional Secretary highlighted the role that the Tourism and Hotel School has developed over its 15 years "in this ambition to always be better, either with people and their training or with the rethinking of each typical regional product or even with the exchange of knowledge and experience."
The Secretary for Tourism stressed that the training of human resources represents one of the most demanding challenges regarding the qualification of the destination to boost the projection of the Azores.
"Regional training institutions should assume a relevant role in the preparation and reconversion of human resources with the necessary quality and the art of hospitality in a genuine manner, which will be valued our tourists, "said Marta Guerreiro.
The Regional Secretary said there is still a long way to go in acknowledging the value of professions linked to the tourism sector, calling for a cultural change towards the pride and dignity of all those representing the sector.
"These cultural changes are being built and it is certain that events like "10 FEST Açores" are pioneers in this path. They already make us believe that gastronomy plays an undisputed role in the itinerary of experiences that our destination has to offer," says Marta Guerreiro.
