Regional Government allocates charging stations for electric vehicles to eight tourist establishments
The Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism announced today that charging stations for electric vehicles have been allocated to eight tourist establishments as part of the Campaign for the Promotion of Energy Efficiency in the Azores - Tourist Resorts.
Pedras do Mar Resort & SPA, Grand Hotel Açores Atlântico, Hotel do Canal, Hotel Marina Atlântico, NEAT Hotel Avenida, Terceira Mar Hotel, Terra Nostra Garden Hotel and São Miguel Park Hotel are the tourist establishments that, at this stage, have been awarded the charging stations.
These campaigns fall within the "Energy Efficiency Award - Azores," taking place this year in various sectors of activity, namely the industry, public and private school establishments, including vocational training schools, tourism companies and tourist establishments.
"We finished the campaign today, but we are already promoting those aimed at industries and other companies in order to reach various sectors of activity," said Marta Guerreiro.
According to Regional Secretary, "these awards are intended to promote an effective consumption management, contributing to the decarbonisation of the Region, through awareness raising and promotion of good energy efficiency and diversification practices."
Participation in the campaign included an awareness-raising action on energy efficiency, during which entities presented a proposal for an energy efficiency plan that included measures deemed appropriate and feasible to implement in their infrastructures or facilities.
Marta Guerreiro spoke in Furnas, S. Miguel Island, in the context of a visit to Terra Nostra Garden Hotel, one of the hotel units whose application was successful. The award consists of the allocation a charging station and the provision of technical support in implementing energy efficiency measures.
“This charging station will be located in a public access area near the hotel's facilities,” said the government official.
Marta Guerreiro stated that "this is another measure adopted by the Regional Government aimed at expanding the network of public access charging stations for electric vehicles, as provided for in the Plan for Electric Mobility in the Azores (PMEA)."
"Hence, we increase and diversify the solutions for this area, rewarding public and private entities that adopt the best energy efficiency solutions," added the Regional Secretary.
