Regional Government provides support to promote destination with tourism initiatives, actions and activities with potential of reducing seasonality
The Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism, through the Regional Directorate for Tourism, provides financial support for initiatives, actions and events promoting the Azores destination in order reduce the sector seasonality.
An order published today in the Official Journal granting financial support sets the maximum amount of support for this year at 1.2 million Euros under the public funding scheme for tourism initiatives, actions and event with significant impact on the external promotion of the Azores destination, as approved by Regional Legislative Decree no.18/2005/A.
For the Regional Government, this is a tool that must be used by agents of the sector as far as it supports initiatives on all islands. It plays a crucial role in the reduction of seasonality by supporting the organisation of events that contribute to the increase of tourists in the low and mid seasons.
This is not just an investment in the promotion of tourism, but also in the increase of tourism flows. It will also contribute to the consolidation of the destination's projection and, consequently, to the sustained development of the sector.
Hence, it will stimulate local dynamics with tourist interest as well as to encourage and promote tourism in the Region. The goal will be achieved through initiatives that demonstrate a relevant regional public interest, while increasing the national and international awareness of the destination.
This is another measure that falls within the strategy to promote the destination, being a priority defined by the XII Regional Government.
