The Azores will receive, for the first time, the Tourism Strategic Laboratory (LET) on January 4. This initiative was developed by Tourism of Portugal in partnership with the Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism. The Strategy for Tourism 2027 (ET27) will be under discussion at the event.
LET are discussion forums intended to promote knowledge sharing, identification of critical areas and creation of solutions, resulting in the definition of strategic priorities through contributions to ET 27.
In the next decade, it is intended that ET 27 becomes the strategic framework for tourism in Portugal, through a comprehensive and creative process that allows the hearing of several sectors of society.
The challenge is to help ET 27 consolidating a long-term vision, combined with an action in the short-term, in order to give greater strategic meaning in the present and provide a framework to the future Community Support Framework 2021 -2027.
Throughout this year, the Territorial LET initiative took place in the tourist regions of Algarve, Norte, Centro, Alentejo, Lisbon and Madeira. There was also Thematic LET that addressed the themes "Knowledge, Employment and Training," "Competitiveness and Innovation in Tourism" and "Trends and International Agenda."
These events have been implemented through conferences/public debates open to the public in general as well as to public and private entities linked to tourism development.
The aim is to mobilise the society for the participatory process underpinning ET 27 with the aim of discussing trends and challenges that may collect contributions and suggestions to the strategic document. Moreover, the initiative will address the analysis of the main tourism indicators for each region, taking into account its specificities.
