Ponta Delgada ,  July 21, 2020

“We must keep our eyes on the future,” says Marta Guerreiro

The Regional Secretary for Energy, Environment and Tourism said that “more than just thinking about taking action in the present, we must keep our eyes on the future,” adopting a strategy focused on the promotion of the Azores destination with its main markets, so as to improve its positioning in this current context.

Marta Guerreiro spoke Monday in Ponta Delgada at the opening of the Rural Tourism (TER) project "Quinta dos 10."

"These entrepreneurs represent exactly this idea that, even in the current context, it makes perfect sense to continue investing in tourism in the Azores, especially when it comes to infrastructures that enhance the quality of the destination," stressed the government official.

The government official stressed the specificities of this tourism project, located in a typical pineapple production area, among other agricultural activities, pointing out that "this is also what tourism is intended to be: a sector that promotes the development of the remaining activities."

The "Quinta dos 10" is a rural property with an orchard. It consists of a traditional house and agricultural buildings that have been converted and adapted to Rural Accommodation, with three accommodation units corresponding to 10 beds.

The Regional Secretary stressed the relevance of investing in tourist projects of excellence, emphasising that we must give preference to various types of tourist accommodations that stand out for sustainable solutions.” In this context, she a noted that this tourism project is a good example of how entrepreneurs are aligned with the Regional Government's strategy.
