The CulturAçores - Culture Maganize, a publication of the Regional Secretariat for Education and Culture, through the Regional Directorate for Culture, was distinguished by the Portuguese Museum Association (APOM) with the prize for "Best Work in Museology."
 
The prize-delivery ceremony was held at the Money Museum in Lisbon. It is intended to highlight innovative and original museological practices in all areas of activity of museums and cultural institutions.
 
The CulturAçores - Culture Magazine, a biennial publication whose first issue was released in February 2015, is based on the promotion and dissemination of cultural projects, activities and events that are supported by the Azores or related to the Region, particularly those developed the services under the administration of the Regional Directorate for Culture.
 
This magazine is a communication tool of the Azorean culture in terms of information, training and reflection. It counts on the support of several collaborators and features a wide range of themes, thus contributing to the dissemination of experiences, practice and research in addition to sharing ideas, concepts and methodologies that stimulate cultural and artistic creation.
 
In the last three years (July-December 2014, January-June 2015 and July-December 2015), the CulturAçores - Culture Magazine published about one hundred articles.
 
The magazine is published both in print and digital format. It also provides an Internet site for the promotion and subscription of the magazine, through the Azores Culture portal of the Regional Directorate for Culture, at the address www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
 
These prizes aim to encourage and reward the imagination and creativity of Portuguese museum curators and their effective contribution to improving the quality of museums in Portugal, enhancing the visibility to the best that is made in museology.
 
APOM aims to promote the knowledge of museology and the respective scientific and technical fields, through meetings and field trips, conferences, exhibitions and publications, as well as to highlight the important role played by museums in every community and between peoples and cultures.
