The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Angra do Heroísmo Museum, will hold a concert in collaboration with Angra do Heroísmo City Council to mark the World Music Day on October 1.
The concert will take place at Nossa Senhora da Guia Church at 8:30 PM as part of the programme to disseminate the unique sound of the historical organ of this church. Built in 1788 by António Xavier Machado and Cerveira, one of the greatest Portuguese organ masters of all times, it is the oldest instrument in the Azores made by this organ master.
The concert will be coordinated by the resident organist of Angra do Heroísmo Museum, Gustaaf van Manen, featuring the participation of sopranos Ana Paula da Silva Pereira and Gloria Pimentel, bass-baritone Miguel Maduro-Dias and Tibério Franco Choir; Ricardo Henriques will be the conductor.
On Sunday, September 30, the last session of "Sundays with Music" concerts, held during the summer season of Angra do Heroísmo Museum, takes place at 11 AM.
