The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Angra do Heroísmo Museum, will continue the "Conferences at Boa Nova" cycle at the Manuel Coelho Baptista de Lima Military History Centre next Wednesday, April 11, at 8 PM. This conference will mark the centenary of the Battle of La Lys, which took place on April 9, 1918.
In this conference, Jaime Regalado will address the theme "From Tejo to Lys - Die on the Line of Villages," focusing relatively unknown aspects of what was one of the greatest Portuguese military disasters. The speaker is a Military History researcher, an expert in weapons at the Technical Expertise Office of the District Attorney General of Lisbon and a consultant to the Military Museums of Lisbon and Porto.
In turn, the night programme organised by the Angra do Heroísmo Museum promotes visits to the three exhibitions open to the public at that centre from 8 to 11 PM. It also allows access to Uniforms, Light Weapons and Heavy Weapons collections, which are usually not available to the public. Admission is free and previous registration is not required.
The Manuel Coelho Baptista de Lima Military History Centre, installed at former Boa Nova Military Hospital, is home to the remarkable Military Collection of the Angra do Heroísmo Museum, recently distinguished with APOM 2016 Award for Best Visiting Collection.
