The fourth conference under the cycle "Autumn Conversations," promoted by the Angra do Heroísmo Public Library and Regional Archive, titled as "Crises and Opportunities" will be lectured by Professor Anselmo Borges, professor at the Faculty of the University of Coimbra, and will be held at the "Sala de Reservados" of the Bettencourt Palace on November 4 at 6 PM.
Anselmo Borges teaches Philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Coimbra, where he is also in charge of the subjects of Philosophical Anthropology, Philosophy of Religion and Ethics. At the same Faculty, he also conducts a seminar on Women and Religion under the Master's and PhD degrees in Feminist Studies.
He studied Theology at the Gregorian University in Rome, Social Sciences at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, Paris, and Philosophy at the Universities of Coimbra and Tübingen, Germany.
Anselmo Borges taught Philosophy and Theology at the Catholic University and the Maputo Seminary.
He is a Catholic priest of the Boa Nova Missionary Society.
Furthermore, he has published several works, including Janela do (In)visível (3 editions),Religião: Opressão ou Libertação?, Morte e Esperança (sold out), Corpo e Transcendência (sold out), Deus no século XXI e o futuro do cristianismo (coord.), Janela do (In)finito (2 editions), Religião e Diálogo Inter-Religioso (2 editions) and Deus e o Sentido da Existência.
He collaborates with the Diário de Notícias newspaper on a regular basis, publishing articles on religious themes.
In his lecture, Anselmo Borges will address crucial issues such as the notions of crisis and opportunity, crisis as constitutive of reality, Crisis and crisis - the multiple crises: cosmic, identity, scientific, economic and financial, family, death and God.
