Application of Terceira's Carnival Dances, "Bailinhos" and Comedies for registration in Intangible Cultural Heritage Inventory
The Regional Directorate for Culture submitted to the Directorate General Directorate of Cultural Heritage (DGPC) an application for the registration of Terceira's Carnival dances, "Bailinhos" (carnival dance) and Comedies in the Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage (INPCI).
The initiative, which follows a recommendation of the Legislative Assembly, has been able to provide information on the inventory and documentation forms of the process on MatrizPCI online database, available at the address: www.matrizpci.dgpc.pt.
After the submission of the inventory application, the DGPC carries out a previous assessment of the inventory proposal, followed by direct consultation with the municipalities involved to issue an opinion.
Later on, this body promotes a public consultation on the inventory proposal based on the online database. During this phase, the entire inventory form concerning the Application of Terceira's Carnival Dances, "Bailinhos" and Comedies for registration in the Intangible Cultural Heritage Inventory.
The last phase of the process concerns the final analysis to be carried out by DGPC and the subsequent decision on the inventory proposal.
The process had the partnership of Hélio Costa Carnival Museum since it is an institution specifically dedicated to the systematisation, preservation and dissemination of heritage related to Terceira's carnival tradition of the Island. Furthermore, it houses some of the most important collections on this theme.
