Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre presents exhibitions, theatre and artistic residencies in September
The Regional Directorate for Culture, through Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre, promotes two exhibitions, a theatre show, two artistic residences and activities developed by the Educational Service.
The Contemporary Arts Centre in Ribeira Grande maintains the 1st Exposition Cycle of "Sonic Geometry" open to the public. This project was created in partnership with RTP - Radio and Television of Portugal and curated by Nuno Faria and Nicolau Tudela.
This cycle presents works created under the Artistic Residencies by the duos Manon Harrois/ Sara Bichão and Laetitia Morais/ Francisco Janes as well as a selection of images from the Audiovisual Archive of RTP.
The Artistic Residency by Francisco Queimadela and Mariana Caló takes place under the "Sonic Geometry" between September 7 and 21.
For a 15 day-period, both artists will develop research, creation and production works that will later be part of the project's exhibition cycles. There will also be an Open Studio featuring the two artists.
Architect Joaquim Oliveira will also be in Artistic Residency at Archipelago in September, where he will develop a project promoted by the Regional Directorate for Culture under the title "Heritage as source of inspiration."
The programme for this month also includes the presentation of the theatre play "A gesture for another" by ColeCtivo em Cena group at the Blackbox on September 9 at 5:30 PM; admission is free but limited to venue capacity.
On September 22, the Contemporary Arts Centre hosts the photography exhibition by photographer Rui Caria entitled "The Refugees."
Starting from 2 PM, Rui Caria will hold a "Conversation at the Blackbox," followed by the opening of the exhibition at 5 PM.
Under the "Last Sunday of each month" initiative, the Educational Services promote the workshop "Track a trail" on September 30. Under this activity, participants, like the artists in residence at Arquipélago, will have the opportunity to explore the territory through a pedestrian trail in the municipality of Ribeira Grande. The initiative is directed to families.
Registrations for this and other activities promoted by the Educational Services should be made through the form available on the Arquipélago website, at the email [email protected] or the telephone 296 270 130.
