Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre promotes artistic residency in Angra do Heroísmo
The Regional Directorate for Culture, through Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre, promotes an Artistic Residency with Sandra Rocha in Angra do Heroísmo between August 16 and 22.
This initiative is part of the underwater cleaning campaign of Pipas Port - Underwater Archaeological Park of Angra do Heroísmo Bay. It is promotes by Portos dos Açores (regional port authorities) in partnership with the Regional Directorate for Culture and Angra do Heroísmo City Hall.
Sandra Rocha, a native of Angra do Heroísmo, lives in Paris. She develops her photographic work on the relations and tensions that develop between human beings and the four elements that make up the University, namely earth, water, fire and air.
In this artistic residency, Sandra Rocha is invited to the produce a work using litter extracted from Pipas Port Bay under the campaign to promote the cleaning of this maritime area.
The work by the artist will be presented to the public at Pipas Port on August 22 at 6 PM.
With this initiative, Arquipélago continues its mission to encourage creation in the Azores, promoting multidisciplinary artistic projects with the involvement of the community. It also contributes to the enhancement of the place, the territory and the landscape, through an interconnection between the arts and the environment.
