The Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre promotes next Thursday, August 11, the opening of "Incognitum" - Atlantic Multimedia Laboratory for the Arts, Science and Society through an International Exhibition of Academic Works titled "Inpossível - com n… entrar na possibilidade."
The event begins at 6:30 PM. It includes a visit to the works of several higher education establishments that are in display at the premises of the Contemporary Arts Centre in Ribeira Grande, São Miguel Island. There will also be a moment of contemporary electronic music at the Live Set by Tiago Ângelo - "Skålen."
The exhibition, which will be open until December 19, intends to challenge the national and international academic world. For that reason, it features the participation of several academic institutions in order to boost the dynamics of this initiative and promote the quality of the academic works produced by higher education establishments in the field of arts, multimedia and technology.
Furthermore, the initiative aims to promote the participation of academic entities in the activities of "Incognitum," namely in the artistic residences as well as in art and science residences. The challenge launched by this laboratory is based on the perspective of creators/artists and scientists on the territory, the sea, the Atlantic spirit, the peculiar universe of the islands, the geomorphology of places and the discovery of identity through a conceptual and formal reflection.
The laboratory may be visited from Tuesday to Sunday between 10 AM and 6 PM. It aims to comprise several areas, such as animation, interactive installations, augmented reality, games, mapped video and multimedia performances.
