The Angra do Heroísmo Museum presents next Saturday a series of videos produced by the resident artists at Re. Function - The Eco Sustainable Art Residence that are part of the Art.Revisited exhibition, currently on display at the Dacosta Room at this Museum.
Created by Sara Leal, the videos will be exhibited at the Azores Factory starting at 11:30 PM. Most of these videos are the result of an arrangement of the works produced by several artists from that artistic residence, whose mentor is Paulo Ávila Sousa.
Two of the videos that will be displayed document the performance of Colombian artist Ângela Castillo Rojas, who addresses on "The (F) Special Project" the progressive humanisation of a female robot through an interaction with different natural elements that stimulate and marvel her.
The short films "Prometeu," a disturbing metaphor of the creation process and "Emotional Landscape," a bold, beautiful and sensual mapping exercise done by the pulsating body of performer Diana Coelho, showcase the works by plastic artist Paulo Arraiano. In turn, “Ensaio Subaquático" addresses the islander condition through the dichotomy of water as a barrier and a link.
Sara Ferreira Leal holds a degree in Advertising and Marketing, having studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy.
In addition to producing artistic events, she also pursues her creative work in cinema and video art; her short film "Runaway" (2010) was awarded a prize at the Official Selection of the New Filmmakers Festival in New York.
Diana Coelho holds a degree in Animation and Production. She was recently distinguished with the award for best actress in "A Escolha" by João Vilares, which was part of the Ver e Fazer Filmes festival held in Guimarães, 2012 European Capital of Culture.
Paul Arraiano holds a degree in Communication. He pursues his activities in several fields, including editorial design, commercial illustration, fashion design, street intervention and exhibition at art galleries.
The Re.Function residence, located in Pico da Urze, also includes artists Paulo Ávila Sousa and Luís Brum.
