The jury of the "Ayres d'Aguiar" Regional Film and Audiovisual Prize, established in 2015 by the Regional Government, has decided to award the prize to director Fernando Resendes for the film "Romeiros do Arcanjo - Heranças de Fé" (Pilgrims of São Miguel - Heritage of Faith).
This distinction aims to reward every, two years, regional filmmakers and acknowledge the value of regional cultural activities in cinema and audiovisuals in different categories.
In naming the prize after Ayres de Faria e Maia d’Aguiar, the Regional Government pays tribute to an Azorean who, throughout his career in the French and international film industry, has always maintained strong and permanent ties with his native land, where he lived in the final years of his life.
The "Ayres d'Aguiar" Film and Audiovisual Prize awards 12 thousand Euros: half of the amount is delivered to the film director and the other half is equally divided between the screenwriter and the producer.
The winner of this regional prize, which is awarded every two years and takes place in odd years, will also receive a certificate identifying the award.
The jury of this edition of the Film and Audiovisual Prize was composed of Manuel Bernardo Cabral, as member of the Regional Council of Culture, director António Pedro Vasconcelos and film critic Anabela Branco Oliveira.
