The Governments of the Azores and the Canary Islands are interested in strengthening cultural ties between the two Atlantic archipelagos.
This commitment was conveyed today by the Regional Director for Culture at the end of a meeting held with the Director-General for Cooperation and Cultural Heritage of the Government of the Canary Islands in Angra do Heroísmo.
At the meeting, Jorge Bruno and Aurélio Gonzalez recognised the "common cultural matrix of the Atlantic peoples," despite the "natural" differences between "each archipelago and each island."
Aurélio Gonzalez participated in the 3rd Archaeology Meeting of the Macaronesian Islands, held in Angra do Heroísmo, Terceira, on Sunday and Monday under the Arqueomac programme.
