Book launch “Representações de África e dos Africanos na História e na Cultura – Séculos XV a XXI” at the Carlos Machado Museum
The book titled “Representações de África e dos Africanos na História e na Cultura – Séculos XV a XXI” (Representations of Africa and Africans in History and Culture – 15th to 21st Centuries) will be presented at the Sacred Art Centre of the Carlos Machado Museum next Monday on July 4 at 6:30 PM.
This work consists of a collection of texts presented at a colloquium recently organised by the CHAM - Centre for Overseas History, which is the result of a partnership between the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the New University of Lisbon and the University of the Azores.
The colloquium brought together several national and foreign experts in fields of Anthropology, History, Literature and Culture, being an important moment of dialogue, exchange of knowledge and perspectives on Africa.
By promoting this dialogue at multiple voices, the colloquium organisers aim to contribute to a better understanding of the African continent, its people and cultures in a context of globalisation and transnational migrations.
