Carlos Machado Museum promotes “Christmas Holidays at the Museum” and “Family Sunday at the Museum”
The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Carlos Machado Museum in Ponta Delgada, promotes several Christmas activities for youngsters.
In this context, the "Christmas Holidays at the Museum" activity will take place at the Santo André Museum Centre on December 19, for children aged between 5 and 8, and on the following day for children aged between 9 and 13.
The activity will include two workshops, one is entitled “One Architect for each nest,” in which participants are invited to discover the diversity of bird nests and their similarities to human habitations. The other one is entitled “A Museum to Discover at Christmas,” which promotes the autonomous and playful exploration of the space where the Museum and its Natural History collection are installed, providing participants with clues that will lead them to make surprising discoveries.
In turn, the "Family Sunday at the Museum" activity will be held on December 15 from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., also at the Santo André Museum Centre.
In this "Family Sunday" edition, participants will have the "Lapinha" sea-themed) Nativity Scene of the Santo André Centre as a starting point to jointly explore this work at a historical and formal level with the coordinator of the Sacred Art collection, Ana Fernandes.
Then, during a workshop with artisan Isabel Silva Melo, they can learn how to work with clay and create their own figures, based on the “Tree of Life” exhibition, which has been open to the public at the Santo André Church since November 22.
