Carlos Machado Museum promotes conference "ART and Social Intervention in territories"
The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Carlos Machado Museum, in a joint organisation with the Director of the Studies Course on Social Work at the University of the Azores will hold the conference entitled "ART and Social Intervention in territories" at the Sacred Art Centre of Colégio Church in Ponta Delgada on September 12.
This conference, scheduled for 2:30 PM, will be delivered by Esther Mercado Garcia, PhD in Social Work, from the Complutense University of Madrid, who has recently participated in the European MOMU project (Moving Towards Multiprofessional Work). The latter addressed the relations between art and social intervention/work as a multidisciplinary and multiprofessional strategy to foster territorial dynamics that favour the inclusion of young people who feel excluded from a social and economic model that offers them job insecurity and, on some occasions, emigration.
The conference falls within the agreement signed between the Carlos Machado Museum and the University of the Azores, following the partnership process for the implementation of “From Fenais to Fenais - The Culture of Local Development,” a project focused on knowledge transfer through community intervention methodologies based on art and culture as important resources for local development.
The initiative is open to all interested parties. However, participation is subject to prior registration, which must be made until September 9 at the emails [email protected] and [email protected].
The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of the CulturAçores Portal at www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
