Contemporary jewellery exhibition at the Whaling Museum

The Whaling Museum opens a contemporary jewellery exhibition by Romeu Bettencourt in Lajes do Pico on Tuesday at 9:30 PM.

This exhibition, which will be open to the public until August 28, is an initiative of the Regional Directorate for Culture of the Presidency of the Regional Government, being integrated in the activity plan of the Pico Museum for 2011.

Born in Ponta Delgada in 1987, Romeu Bettencourt seeks to achieve in his works a balance between geometric shapes and the curves and reverse curves of organic shapes.

In 2002, Romeu Bettencourt moved to Porto where he enrolled in the Jewellery Technological Course at the Soares dos Reis Secondary Arts School in the following year. In 2006, he undertook a traineeship in Jewellery Setting at the North Glasgow College under the Leonardo da Vinci Programme and in 2007 he was admitted to the College of Arts and Design, graduating in Jewellery.
