The Regional Directorate for Culture, through Corvo Ecomuseum, promotes several initiatives on organic farming featuring the participation of Avelino Ormonde, owner of the company Biofontinhas, at the Social Centre of "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" of Corvo Saturday and Sunday. The initiative is aimed at the promotion of sustainable development.
On Saturday, February 9, a workshop will be held under the theme "Green Shakes" at 6 PM, while there will be a lecture on "Traditional agriculture and organic farming - crossed paths" scheduled for Sunday, February 10, also at 6 PM.
The initiatives also include an information session on composting as well as a visit to vegetable gardens and private productions to be later scheduled with participants. These events will also be attended by Avelino Ormonde.
At a time when the Corvo's community depends almost exclusively on external supply, the Corvo Ecomuseum intends to counteract this tendency by raising awareness for the enormous production potential of the smallest island of the Azores, which has been self-sufficient for centuries.
The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of CulturAçores Portal at the following address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
