Exhibition "Capas do Senhor Bom Jesus Milagroso do Santuário Diocesano do Pico" at the Whaling Museum
The exhibition titled as "Capas do Senhor Bom Jesus Milagroso do Santuário Diocesano do Pico" (The capes of the Good Jesus of Pico Shrine) will open at the Whaling Museum in Lajes on August 9 at 9:30 PM. The event is organised by the Pico Museum with the support of the Presidency of the Government of the Azores/Regional Directorate for Culture.
Organised in the context of the jubilee celebrations of the 150 years of the cult of the Good Jesus on the island of Pico and the 50th anniversary of the São Mateus Parish Church's elevation to Shrine, the event highlights the significance of the statue of the Good Jesus, which was offered by a emigrant from Brazil 150 years ago, and the capes that have been offered to the statue over the years.
This exhibition will be open to the public until September 2 and may be visited during the museum's regular operating hours.
