The Carlos Machado Museum organises the opening of the exhibition titled "Fez-se Luz" (There was light) by São Miguel plastic artist, Catarina Branco, at the Carlos Machado Museum next Friday, February 10, at 6:30 PM.
This temporary exhibition, which will be open to the public until March 31, will be displayed at the Museum centres. The Sacred Art Centre will display the works "Arcanjo" (2010), "Povoação" (2011) and "Lapinha" (2011) that share family and collective memories, reflecting personal experiences and popular traditions, and simultaneously evoking a spiritual dimension. In turn, the Santa Bárbara Centre will display the works "Ilha Desconhecida" (2010), "Vegetação Densa (2011) and "Corações ao Alto" (2011) which, for their form and technique, evoke traditional paper-cutting works.
The opening session will feature a presentation of Catarina Branco's works by historian Carlos Riley.
