The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Horta Museum, promotes a steampunk workshop, a subgenre of science fiction that was developed in the 1980s and 1990s of the 20th century. The activity takes place from January 20 to 27 and from February 3 to 10.
The workshop, guided by Paula Saraiva, is exclusively directed to young people and is limited to a maximum of 15 participants.
Steampunk works take place in a fictitious past in which modern technological paradigms occurred earlier than in reality. Nevertheless, they are the result of the scientific knowledge already available at the time, such as, for example, wooden computers and steam-powered computers.
This workshop includes research work at João José da Graça Public Library and Regional Archive so that participants may create their own character.
After this stage, the practical component will be held at the Horta Museum, where the works can be presented in several ways, according to what will be selected by participants.
Those are interested may contact the Horta Museum by telephone number 292 202 573, email [email protected] or the Museum's reception desk.
