The Regional Secretariat for Education, Science and Culture, through the Regional Directorate for Culture, in partnership with the Ponta Delgada Regional Conservatory and Teatro Micaelense, will promote the concert "Lessons by Young Masters" on April 1.
The project aims to disseminate the experiences of young musicians from different nationalities, who will share their knowledge and passion for music through concerts, talks and youngclasses.
Held in the 2014 Art Season, the concert features pianists Ecaterina Baranov, Moldova, Elise Bachour, France, and Zachary Deak, USA. It will take place at 6:30 PM at Teatro Micaelense, where the three young musicians will talk to the audience.
Guest musicians will share the experience they have acquired in their home countries as well as in the cities of Paris, Berlin and London, where they pursue their musical studies. This initiative will foster the exchange of ideas, knowledge and teachings.
The concert's programme is divided into three parts, each consisting of a series of works to be performed by each musician.
The first part features works by F. Schubert, J. Brahms and H. Villa-Lobos that will be performed by Zachary Deak, followed by Ecaterina F. Baranov, who will perform works by F. Schubert and F. Liszt. The concert will close with the performance of Elise Bachour, who will play works by J. S. Bach and J. Haydn.
Born in 1986 in San Diego California, California, Zachary Deak began his musical studies at an early age, which later led him to France.
He is currently attending the second of his Master’s Degree in Performance at the Royal College as a scholar supported by the Lucy Ann Jones Award and is studying with Leon McCawley.
Ecaterina Baranov was born in Chisinau, Moldova, where he earned a degree in Music and a Master's Diploma by the Academy of Music, Theatre and Visual Arts.
She studied piano and chamber music under the guidance of renowned teachers, being awarded top marks. She has performed recitals in France, Moldova, Germany and Romania, and has also participated in several music festivals across Europe.
Elise Bachour was born in 1987 in Besançon. She began her musical studies at an early age and currently studies with Bjöm Lehmann at the Berlin University of Arts.
She has performed recitals as a soloist at several concerts halls, including the Salle Cortot and the Espace Bernanos, and has formed a duo with Elena Gabouri in singing festivals.
