The Regional Directorate for Culture promotes a concert by Lira Açoriana Regional Orchestra featuring the participation of 46 musicians from various islands of the archipelago that will be held at the Madalena Auditorium on Pico Island on September 2 at 9:30 PM. It is part of the programme of the Artistic Season 2017.
The concert also features as guest soloist clarinettist Frederic Cardoso; admission is free. Tickets should be collected at Madalena Town Hall from Monday to Friday between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM. On the day of the concert, they will be also available at Madalena Auditorium from 8:30 PM.
This concert concludes the second workshop held by Lira Açoriana Regional Orchestra, which begins on August 28, under the artistic direction of Alberto Roque, the guest conductor who will guide the Lira Project in the biennium 2017/2018.
The workshop will be guided with the support of 10 teachers from Mainland Portugal, including Dina Hernandez (flute), Catarina Silva (oboe), Daniel Frazão (clarinet), Ricardo Santos (bassoon), Ricardo Pires (saxophone), Pedro Silva (horn), João Ferreira (trumpet), Nuno Carreira (trombone), Miguel Alves (tuba/euphonium) and Marco Fernandes (percussion).
Following the conclusion of the workshop, the Lira Açoriana Project promotes a training course for musicians of all orchestra sections. The event is directed to philharmonic bands of Pico Island.
This initiative takes place at Madalena Artistic Training Centre from August 30 to September 1. Registrations should be made until August 29 at the email [email protected].
The Lira Açoriana Project resumed the activities of the Regional Orchestra in 2015. Founded on training goal, it intends to provide selected young musicians with an opportunity for their enhancement and evolution, not only through training courses and public concerts but also through the awarding of prizes to participants who stand out the most.
