Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive promotes Night of Tales in the village of Altares
The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive, promotes a night of Tales, entitled "Olhos grandes, boca aberta" (Big eyes, Open mouth), at Altares Museum Centre on Terceira Island Saturday, April 8 at 8:30 PM; the session will be conducted by Ricardo Ávila.
This activity, with free admission, aims to promote socialisation among families with the sharing of tales, stories, songs, riddles, among other forms of oral tradition, thus continuing the work developed with the elderly attending the Social Centre in the village of Altares under the "Playing at Storytellers" project.
Participants will be able to use the loan service, requesting the books available under the "Library in the Villages" initiative, which will be installed in that building until April 30.
Ricardo Ávila, a graduate in Childhood Education from the University of the Azores and holder of a Master's degree in Theatre from the University of Évora, will play the roles of narrator, reading mediator and actor.
He has working at the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive since January, being responsible for several projects for reading promotion and safeguarding of oral heritage, such as " Estórias e Estigmas” (Stories and Stigmas), “Cestinha de Contos” (Little Basket of Tales) e “Brincar aos contistas” (Playing at Storytellers), among others.
The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of CulturAçores Portal at the following address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
