Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive travels to Santa Bárbara and Quatro Ribeiras in August
The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive, continues with the "Library in the Village - Itinerant Library," a project that is being carried out in partnership with the City Councils of Angra do Heroísmo and Praia da Vitória. In the month of August, the Library will bring its book offer and home loan services to the villages of Santa Bárbara and Quatro Ribeiras.
The Itinerant Library will travel to Santa Bárbara in the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo from August 1 to 30 and to the village of Quatro Ribeiras in the municipality of Praia da Vitória from August 2 to 31. It will be installed at the premises of the Village Councils, running from Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 12:30 PM and from 2 to 5 PM; there are evening sessions from Monday to Thursday from 7:30 to 9:30 PM.
In order to benefit from the services that are now available, those who are interested should go to the services of these Village Councils to request the books available for reading at home. It is a fact that the Library cannot be everywhere, but it can be closer to the citizens. It also has the responsibility to bring people closer and provide a further contact with books, encouraging home loan.
In this context, the project intends to bring home loan services to the populations residing in the villages located in the municipalities of Angra do Heroísmo and Praia da Vitória with the aim of disseminating its advantages. It also aims to provide the elderly or people with reduced mobility with equal access to the books available for home loan, upon request, and under the same conditions as those provided by the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive.
