Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library hosts a conference on "Vitorino Nemésio's Family"
The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archives in Angra do Heroísmo, will hold a conference by researcher and genealogist Jorge Forjaz on "Vitorino Nemésio's Family" next Friday, January 11, at 6 PM.
This conference is part of the programme to promote the exhibition entitled "Vitorino Nemésio: the fibres of Azorean torpor." The latter has been open to the public since September to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the death of one of the greatest figures in contemporary Portuguese literature as well as the anniversary of the first editions of some of his most significant works.
Jorge Forjaz is the co-author of the work "Genealogias da Ilha Terceira" (Genealogies of Terceira Island) and author of works such as "Genealogias das quatro ilhas" (Genealogies of four islands), "Os Monjardinos" (The Monjardino Family), "Os Teixeira de Sampaio da ilha Terceira" (The Teixeira de Sampaio Family of Terceira) or "Tombo Heráldico dos Açores" (Heraldic Archives of the Azores). He also served as Regional Director for Cultural Affairs between 1977 and 1984, and as Director of the Angra do Heroísmo Museum between 1984 and 1988.
