Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library in Angra do Heroísmo presents "Te Deum Score" from Tomás de Borba Fund
The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive in Angra do Heroísmo, exhibits today the "Te Deum - Score" from Tomás de Borba Fund.
This document will be on display during this month. The exhibition falls within of the activities carried out by the Library with the aim of disseminating an important part of the documentary funds in its possession.
Tomás Vaz de Borba developed his activity as composer of religious and secular music.
In the context of sacred music, this Azorean Catholic priest composed several Masses, Te Deum and Tantum Ergo, among other works, while in secular music he composed a sonata, a piece for string quartet, a Portuguese suite and a Cape Verdean rhapsody. In addition, he composed erudite chamber songs about Portuguese poetry, a collection of songs for Galician-Portuguese poems and choral pieces.
