Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library in Angra do Heroísmo promotes Old Tales Night session
The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive, will hold an "Old Tales Night" at Posto Santo Community Centre in Angra do Heroísmo next Saturday, October 14, Saturday, at 9 PM.
This initiative is mainly directed to adult audiences, taking into account that it is up to the elders to perpetuate the oral tradition of tales, riddles, songs and other types of Azorean popular narrative.
The event is linked to "Play to Storytellers," a project underway at Posto Santo Community Centre. It also aims to inventory the oral heritage and envision new ways of disseminating popular narratives, in addition to highlighting the book loan project implemented in the village of Posto Santo, through the "Library in the Villages" initiative from October 3 to 30.
The tales night session features narrator Ricardo Ávila, a graduate in Childhood Education and a Masters in Theatre - Actor-Puppeteer, who has dedicated himself to the Portuguese storytelling tradition.
The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of CulturAçores Portal at the following address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
