Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library in Angra do Heroísmo to promote activities and workshops in December
The Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archives, in partnership with the Angra do Heroísmo Science Centre, promotes several activities in December in which health and education play a prominent role.
On Saturday, December 2, the workshop entitled "It smells like Christmas" will be held between 2:30 and 3:30 PM. It is directed at children from the age of 6 and young people.
In this activity, participants will help in the decoration of the Library's Christmas tree and may bring home a souvenir with a special Christmas smell.
On December 9, the workshop entitled "Make your own soap" will take place between 2:30 and 3:30 PM. It is also aimed at children from the age of 6 and young people. The activity intends to raise the awareness of participants for the importance of hand hygiene through the creation of soaps of various shapes, colours and scents.
On December 19, the activity entitled "Kiwi DNA" takes places between 3 and 4 PM. It is directed to children from the age of 8 and young people.
This initiative aims to show what DNA is, where it is and how it is extracted. With the use of accessible materials, it will be shown that it is possible to isolate the DNA molecule, which contains the information that makes us different from a kiwi, an ant or an oak tree.
All these activities will be also complemented with the organisation of an artistic creation workshop designated as "Christmas without equal" for children from the age of six and young people. It will take place between December 19 and 22 from 2 to 3:30 PM.
An initiative of Luís da Silva Ribeiro Public Library and Regional Archive, this workshop aims to instil the true meaning of Christmas, unity, affection and joy.
With the exception of the workshop that takes place on December 19, all activities require prior registration, which must be done by telephone 295 401 000.
