The MUSIQUIM show marks Saturday, September 12, the beginning of the activities planned for this month at Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre, located in Ribeira Grande.
The event, t be held at Blackbox at 5:30 PM, is the result of a music workshop addressed at families that took place during the month of August, involving children between two and eight years, under the guidance of André Melo and Mário Moniz. The workshop was focused on music, movement and drama.
The show is free for children up to 6 years.
The organisation of several Artistic Residencies will also mark the activities of "Arquipélago," starting with the "Performance Cycle" under the guidance of Mariana Brandão. This initiative will run until the end of the year.
"REACTING TO TIME" - Portuguese performance, under the artistic direction of Vânia Rovisco, will take place between September 14 and 18 and its presentation is scheduled for September 19.
Aimed at people aged between 16 and 60 years, the workshop is limited to 15 participants and will take place after working hours. Vânia Rovisco will focus on areas of contextualization and research as well as on the updating of performance works in Portugal.
This activity, designated as "Transmission Workshop VI," is intended to update the specificity of the bodily memory of these early experiences.
On September 18, the Regional Office of Portuguese Association of Architects will launch the Site of the Azores Architecture Itinerary at 6:30 PM.
The Itinerary includes works that were built and completed in the archipelago after 1950. According to Regional Office of the Portuguese Association of Architects, the existence of "an architectural production on all islands justified the need to create its own itinerary. It is not an alternative itinerary, but rather complementary to the nature itineraries that are highly recognised in the Azores.
The workshop titled "Performance Yesterday and Today," under the coordination of Mariana Brandão, will be held on September 26-27 and October 3-4. It is targeted at an audience over 18 years.
With this activity, participants will reflect and question the concept of Performance in the artistic context, through the search for examples and the analysis of historical works so that they may reach a far more interesting conclusion than its traditional definition.
During the month of September, the Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre is open from Tuesday to Sunday between 10 AM and 8 PM.
Through guided tours, subject to prior booking, visitors can learn about the building from an architectural point of view. They will also have the opportunity to watch the disassembly of "Collateral Points - Arquipélago Contemporary Art Archipelago, a selection," which was open to the public from May 22 and August 30.
