The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Angra do Heroísmo Museum and its Educational Services, promotes a programme of activities designed to promote positive love relationships in the context of the celebrations of Saint Valentine's Day between February 11 and 15.
Developed in a partnership with the Centre for Prevention Initiatives and Combat to Domestic Violence (NIPCVD ), the initiative starts Tuesday, February 11, with the presentation of the puppet play "Amor em Tons e Verde" (Love in Shades of Green) by NIPCVD for pre-school children.
On the same day, an awareness-raising session for positive attitudes in dating is scheduled at 1 PM, being followed by a workshop dedicated to decorative arts inspired Valentine's handkerchief. This activity is targeted at junior high school and secondary school students.
The workshop "Dou-te um cravo e dás-me um lenço" (I’ll give you a carnation and you’ll give me a handkerchief) will be held on February 14. This activity is intended to analyse the symbolism of these traditional love tokens.

On February 15, those taking part in the workshop "Valentine's Handkerchiefs" will have the opportunity of learning basic embroidery techniques with the aim of making a handkerchief containing love messages by combining traditional techniques and contemporary materials and techniques.
The contents and techniques taught in this workshop will be adapted in accordance with the age of participants. This activity is open to children from the age of six, youngsters and adults.
The registration fee is set at five Euros. The workshops will be conducted by Valentina Carreiro e Olga Martins.
