The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Pico Museum, and in partnership with the production company Comunicar Atitude promotes the exhibition of the last two films of the documentary cycle "Whalers of the World" today on November 30 at the Whaling Museum in Lajes do Pico at 9 PM; admission is free.
This showcase of international films about whaling since the early 20th century has been presented throughout this year. The initiative also revisited memories with purpose of expanding the historical photography collection of Lajes do Pico.
In this context, the local population was invited to share old photos related to whaling activities, which were then digitised with the owner's permission.
The collection of images takes place until the end of this year at the premises of the production company Comunicar Atitude and Pico Museum.
Mostly in black and white, the images depict whales being hunted and cut. They may shock the most sensitive viewers.
The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events are available for consultation at the Cultural Agenda of the CulturAçores Portal at the address www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
