The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Pico Museum, opens the "Hands with Art" exhibition, a display of whaling art in sperm whale bone and tooth by local artists, at the Whaling Museum next Wednesday, August 2, at 9:30 PM.
The works made in sperm whale bone and tooth are one of the most important manifestations of Azorean art of the 20th century.
This unique artistic manifestation at local and regional has stemmed from the relation that the Azoreans were able to establish with the whales and the sea.
In this context, the Pico Museum aims to display the work of some of some local artists who are still alive, showing different concepts, techniques and methods of work.
The exhibition will be open until October 1 from Tuesday to Sunday, between 10 AM and 5:30 PM.
The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of CulturAçores Portal at the following address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
