The Regional Directorate for Culture, through Pico Museum, hosts the launch of the children's book "Ritinha - uma história do mar" (Ritinha - a tale of the sea), with texts by Nuno Mata and illustrations by Salgado Almeida, at the Whaling Museum in Lajes do Pico on August 22 at 9 PM.
In this book, the authors tell the story of António, a boy who wanted to be a whaler, but when he finds a whale named Ritinha, he decides to fight for the preservation of this species. Despite being addressed to younger audiences, it can be read by people of all ages.
Nuno Mata, a native of Sintra, works as a Geography teacher and is involved in the research of local history. He is the author of several monographs and other works in different literary styles, including the work entitled "Lajes do Pico - cartas de (uma) viagem" (Lajes do Pico - letters of (a) journey."
In turn, Salgado Almeida, a graduate in Fine Arts from the School of Fine Arts of Porto, has taught arts subject in several public and private schools. His works have already been presented in various individual and collective exhibitions.
