The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Pico Museum promotes a "Viola da Terra" (traditional Azorean guitar) Soirée featuring Rafael Carvalho ("viola da terra"), César Carvalho (guitar) e Carolina Constância (violin) at the Whaling Museum in Lajes do Pico on August 1 at 9 PM.
This concert will include the performance of traditional "viola da terra" themes, including "Pezinho," "Balho da Povoação" and "Fados Menores," original music by Rafael Carvalho and a musical fusion alluding to the medieval music; admission is free.
Rafael Carvalho, who is the author of the albums "Origens" (2012) and "Paralelo 38" (2014), will be accompanied by his brother, César Carvalho, and the young Azorean violinist, Carolina Constância. The soirée also features the special participation of musician Manuel Costa Jr., who is also the director of Pico Museum.
