The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Ponta Delgada Public Library and Regional Archive, promotes "A Magical Journey at the Library" on October 15 from 8:30 PM to 11 PM. The initiative falls within the activities for the promotion of books and in partnership with the storytellers group "Histórias Requinhas.”
This "magical journey" through the world of imagination, creativity and fantasy in the stories of the Library is addressed to children aged between 5 and 10. It aims to instil the taste for reading in children and families and encourage the development of oral expression.
The initiative, which also intends to strengthen ties between families and the Library, is limited to 20 participants. Registrations should be made until October 12.
In order to "board" on this night journey, children should be dressed in pyjamas and bring a pillow to sit on each "stop."
Parents who wish to wait for the end of the journey at the Library may enjoy a moment dedicated to them in the Collective Projection Room.
The "Requinhas" came up with the idea of creating a group of storytellers. Since they began their activity in 2011, they have told stories for children, Christmas stories as well as stories for fathers, stories for the stars and stories for mothers, among other initiatives.
In a project intended to increase the taste for reading among children on São Miguel Island, the “Requinhas” carry these activities in groups of two and three in order to add more action and dynamics to the stories.
The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of CulturAçores Portal at the following address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
