The Presidency of the Regional Government of the Azores, through the Regional Directorate for Culture, presented the "Azores Cultural Route: Francisco de Lacerda," a work that highlights the role played by this high-profile Azorean in the Portuguese and international cultural life.
The cultural route will be presented at the Francisco de Lacerda Museum on S. Jorge on July 21 at 8 PM.
Francisco de Lacerda went beyond the borders of the sea and Portugal, having worked in France and Switzerland.
The "Azores Cultural Route: Francisco de Lacerda" includes a historical overview on this composer and orchestra conductor, suggesting a tour around São Jorge.
The "Azores Cultural Routes - Personalities" identify the Azorean cultural heritage through the life paths of some personalities and invites both locals and visitors for a journey throughout history.
The initiative has already published the "Azores Cultural Routes - Personalities" on Antero de Quental, Vitorino Nemésio and Manuel de Arriaga. The "Cultural Route - Dias de Melo" is also expected to be presented in 2012.
These cultural routes can be purchased at Public Libraries and Regional Archives, Museums, Culture Shops, Bookstores, Tourist offices or through the Regional Directorate for Culture ([email protected]).
According to the Regional Director of Culture, Jorge Paulus Bruno, "this project represents an investment in cultural promotion with a special impact on the general public and the tourists visiting the Azores, being another governmental investment in Culture to promote tourism."
