Regional Directorate for Culture promotes training on Museums and Digital Challenge
The Regional Directorate for Culture, in partnership with the Portuguese Network of Museums, promotes a training course on the theme "Museums and Digital Challenge" at the Santo André Centre of Carlos Machado Museum between October 8 and 11.
Under the guidance of Teresa Campos, this training is directed to museum professionals, especially those belonging to the Portuguese Network of Museums. It aims to present the challenges of conservation and preservation of digitisation in the cultural sector as well as to disseminate principles, methodologies and best practices for the digital management of cultural heritage in museums.
The development of professional skills in the field of digital heritage and the digitisation of cultural heritage, the role of inventories as a starting point for the registration and preservation of museum collections, the production and availability of online contents, and the analysis of the fundamental importance of digital tools for safeguarding and preserving museum collections to enhance cultural heritage are other purposes of this training course.
Teresa Campos, adviser to the National Tile Museum and member of the departments of the Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage, has participated in international working groups and projects for the digitisation of cultural contents.
She is the author of several articles and monographs in History of the Art and Documentation as well as Inventory Standardisation procedures. Teresa Campos has delivered numerous papers and conducted training sessions on the inventory of movable cultural property, computerisation of inventories in museums and the standardisation of terminology as well as on digital challenges for museums.
This training will be attended by professionals from museums linked to institutions based in the Azores, Madeira and Mainland Portugal.
