Under the Artistic Season 2017, the Government of the Azores, through the Regional Secretariat for Education and Culture, in partnership with Teatro Micaelense organises the concerts "Travels in My Homeland" and "Nocturne" featuring Portuguese pianist Joana Gama.
The one-hour piano recital "Travels in My Homeland" will be held on November 17 at Teatro Micaelense in Ponta Delgada at 9:30 PM and on November 21 at João José da Graça Public Library and Regional Archive at 9 PM.
The programme features the works "Lume de Chão - Fabric of Memories and Affections" by Amílcar Vasques-Dias, and "Travels in Homeland - Nineteen Pieces for Piano on Traditional Portuguese Melodies" by Fernando Lopes-Graça.
The concert "Nocturne" will take place on November 17 at 10:30 AM in a session for school audiences, from 6 to 10 years old, and on November 18 at 5 PM in a session open to children accompanied by their parents.
Both sessions will be held at Teatro Micaelense in Ponta Delgada.
A co-creation of Joana Gama and Victor Hugo Pontes, this concert explores the children's imaginary concerning the night.
Pianist Joana Gama, who won the Young Musicians Prize in the Piano category in 2008, concluded her Master's degree in Interpretation at the University of Évora in 2010.
